About the Role

As a Loading & Unloading Worker (Carico e Scarico Merci), you will be responsible for manually or mechanically loading and unloading goods from trucks, vans, shipping containers, or pallets. Your primary responsibilities will include moving freight to designated storage areas, stacking and organizing products, checking shipment accuracy, and maintaining a safe work environment.

This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse or outdoor dock environment. Workers enjoy consistent demand, bonus pay for peak season overtime, and opportunities to gain forklift or pallet jack certifications that lead to higher pay.

Key Responsibilities

  • Unload incoming shipments from delivery trucks, vans, or containers
  • Sort and inspect goods for visible damage or discrepancies against packing lists
  • Move freight using hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, or manually (lifting up to 25 kg)
  • Load outbound shipments onto vehicles according to loading plans and weight distribution
  • Stack boxes, pallets, and goods safely in designated warehouse zones
  • Wrap, shrink-wrap, or band pallets to secure items for transport
  • Operate basic warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, dollies, conveyor belts)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free loading dock area
  • Follow all Italian workplace safety regulations (Testo Unico sulla Sicurezza – D.Lgs. 81/08)
  • Report damaged goods, equipment issues, or safety incidents to supervisor
  • Work efficiently to meet daily loading/unloading targets and delivery deadlines

Requirements

  • Physical fitness for standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 25 kg repeatedly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight schedules (especially peak shipping seasons)
  • Reliable attendance – warehouse operations depend on consistent staffing
  • Basic Italian language skills (A1–A2 level sufficient for safety instructions) or basic English
  • No prior loading experience required – full on-the-job training provided
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts: morning, afternoon, night, weekends, or overtime
  • Must have valid work authorization in Italy (EU passport, permesso di soggiorno, or visa sponsorship available for qualified non-EU candidates)
  • Steel-toed safety shoes required (employer may provide allowance or reimbursement)
