About the Role
As a Waiter/Server (Nadil), you will provide excellent customer service, take orders, serve food and beverages, and ensure guests have a memorable dining experience. Your primary responsibilities will include greeting customers, upselling menu items, handling payments, and maintaining table cleanliness – all while respecting Saudi cultural and religious customs.
This role requires working in fast-paced, high-energy environments, standing for long periods, light lifting, and flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays (especially during Ramadan and Hajj season). Exceptional service leads to higher tips and career advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and seat guests warmly, following proper etiquettes (gender-segregated family sections where applicable)
- Present menus and explain daily specials or promotions
- Take accurate food and drink orders using a POS system (non-alcoholic beverages only – no alcohol in KSA)
- Upsell appetizers, desserts, and specialty coffees to increase bill value
- Serve food and drinks promptly while ensuring quality and presentation standards
- Check on guests regularly to ensure satisfaction (refill water, tea, coffee)
- Handle cash, credit card, Mada (local debit), and digital payments (Apple Pay, STC Pay) securely
- Clear and sanitize tables, resetting for next guests
- Cooperate with kitchen and barista staff for smooth service
- Follow all Saudi food safety regulations (Baladiyah) and halal food handling guidelines
- Handle customer complaints professionally and escalate when needed
Requirements
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment (especially during Ramadan and Hajj)
- Physical stamina for standing, walking, and carrying trays (up to 10–15 kg)
- Basic math skills for handling bills, change, and tips
- Professional appearance, good personal hygiene, and positive attitude
- Flexibility with work schedule – nights, weekends, public holidays, and split shifts
- Basic English or Arabic language skills (English is widely used in upscale restaurants)
- No prior serving experience required – training provided
- Must have valid Saudi iqama or ability to obtain work visa (employer provides sponsorship)
- Previous experience in hotel or restaurant is an asset but not required
