About the Role

As a Plumber, you will install, repair, and maintain piping systems, fixtures, and appliances for water, gas, and drainage. Your primary responsibilities will include reading blueprints, diagnosing plumbing issues, cutting and assembling pipes, testing systems for leaks, and ensuring compliance with local building codes.

This role requires technical expertise, physical stamina, and the ability to work independently or as part of a construction team. Plumbers enjoy high hourly wages, frequent overtime opportunities, and job stability across all economic conditions. Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and building specifications
  • Install, repair, and maintain residential and commercial plumbing systems

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot leaks, clogs, low pressure, and other issues
  • Use hand and power tools to cut, thread, bend, and solder pipes
  • Test pipe systems for leaks using pressure gauges or smoke tests
  • Follow safety protocols and Alberta/National Plumbing Codes
  • Coordinate with general contractors, electricians, and other trades
  • Maintain clean work areas and proper tool inventory
  • Provide cost estimates and excellent customer service for service calls

Requirements

  • Valid plumbing trade certificate (Journeyman or Apprentice registration)
  • Red Seal endorsement is a strong asset (higher pay scale)
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on plumbing experience (apprentices considered)
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams
  • Physical strength for lifting heavy pipes, standing, kneeling, and working in tight spaces
  • Valid driver’s license (company vehicle provided for service roles)
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic to intermediate English (French an asset but not required)
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada (LMIA support available for qualified candidates)
  • Clean safety record and willingness to undertake drug screening (if required)
